![]() ![]() Getting institutions to spawn and spread in your provinces if you're waaaay on the other side of the world from Europe is also a pain. When you start as Brunei and you wind up so far ahead in tech that you can invade central Europe and crush armies 3x your size, that's my idea of fun. Shame, that was one of the bits I liked most about EU3. Looking over the wiki, I guess the unit types are roughly equal for each tech group all the way through the game, thus inhibiting my ability to roflstomp my neighbors with my superior Western(ized) Military vs. I was also the first to circumnavigate the globe*. I have territory as far west as Hollhavi (Diego Garcia) and as far west as Hawaii. I picked Exploration, Expansion, and Aristocratic as my first three groups, and have been peacefully expanding around SE Asia. On the other hand, I do like the Idea Groups, and I like that most countries have a unique national Idea Group to give them some character. You got to make a slider move every N years no matter what, and you weren't giving up anything else to do so. I liked the sliders in EU3 better, I think. Makes me feel like every decision is robbing Peter to pay Paul. Same for things which use the Diplo pool (accepted cultures, culture conversion, etc) and Military pool (create leaders, etc). Increase Administrative development in your provincesĪll come from the same limited resource pool. ![]() But at the moment, it galls me that the resource used to: However, this may simply be due to my lack of understanding of how best to use them. I think I do not like the Monarch Points mechanic. I dunno if I'm "Buy the base game and all DLC on a whim" positive about it, but I'm enjoying it so far. Overall, though, I'm pretty positive about it. It's harder to untangle that knot than you might think. I'm having to suss out which things I don't like just because they're not EU3 mechanics vs.
